  Spring 2019   Claudia is pleased to announce an invitation from the Academy of American Poets to join their society. They were founded in 1934, and is the largest member-supported organization advocating for poets, poetry, National Poetry Month, and free arts education in the schools and community.

 
  April 2019   Vashon Center for the Arts

Claudia is project consultant, juror, and photographer in the “Lexicon of Light” reverse Ekphrastic project curated by photographer, Michael Elenko. Ten top Vashon poets were selected to submit one poem each for selected top photographers to respond artistically...from Word to Picture, as the curator says. An opening reception will be held on Friday April 5th 5-9pm, and a special evening event reading with the poets and photographers will be held on Thursday April 25th.   April 2019   Vashon Island’s Literary Convention “LitCon 2019”

Claudia Hollander-Lucas is a featured artist who will host two “Meet The Artist” sessions in which she will display and discuss her one-of-a-kind artist books. She draws upon her extensive experience in the visual arts to talk about the materials, concepts, processes, and research that bond creatively in her projects. She will also share her background materials, such as journals and book models. The project “UnGardening” will be featured on Thursday April 11th from 2-5pm, and on Friday April 12th from 10am-1pm in the Vashon Center for the Arts Atrium.

 
  March 2019   Claudia attends her first writers’ conference! She will be at the AWP conference in Portland, Oregon to participate in the three-day extravaganza of panels, workshops, and parties. She’ll bring her new manuscript, poems, and artist books to share with presses, friends, and colleagues
